Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)
Been playing and reffing Traveller on and off (off for the past few years unfortunately) since 1979.

Loved CT. Never got into MT or TNE because of the direction they were taking the storyline. Liked the Mileiu 0 but never looked into the T4 rules after I heard from many of my friends reviews.

I'm currently in love with the GURPS version, because I just love GURPS in general. I havent looking into either T20 or THero. Though I am curious about T5.

Glad to see the forums back - life is good again.

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)

Hi,

I'm David. Ran a lot of Traveller from the mid-80's to the early 90's. Reading the MongTraveller Beta rules got me interested in running CT again. Have had one game session, a couple of weeks back, which went really well. Like riding a bike, once the rust flaked off, it was a breeze!

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)
HI.

Probably one of the younger guys (25) on here.  Never, ever, have played traveller - all my gaming involvement with Trav has been GMing it, and getting people my age interested and playing.

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)
Hi, I'm Rob.   Played Traveller first in 1980 (or was it '81?).    Loved it.  Lost the ardor when MT broke up the Imperium, and really didn't like the TNE post-apocalyptic setting, went on to other things.  But got the feeling back in '96, and I like the GT universe (not the system so much), and am looking forward to T5.

I've been assistant/junior listmom of the TML since, darn - 2000? 2001?  Something like that.  I prefer mailing lists ( mostly because it's easy to keep local copies of the posts to mine later for ideas. :)  but this web board of Jeff's looks promising.  Good work, Jeff!

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)
Maybe we should mention where we're located - do the old "let's see where everyone is" thing.
(Or isn't there an online GIS type app for locating RPG players - I know I've got the link somewhere...)

Anyway, I live near Cleveland, Ohio.

And Greek: good for you - bring in the young blood to Our Great Game!

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)

Hi there.  I'm 45, a PhD student (almost done, thank Ghu), and I started playing Traveller in 1977.  Mostly played Classic Traveller, and mostly in homebrew universes and not the Third Imperium.  I've come back to it after a long time away, and find that I like both CT and MT.  The other versions haven't appealed as much, but there are good bits everywhere (e.g. Pocket Empires).

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)

Hi, I'm Chris, born and living in England.

First exposure to Traveller was via Snapshot (1973/4). Got big into CT and have a big collection of the original GDW A5 books, plus many of the 3rd party supplements.

Liked MT with its more in-depth creations systems (FF&S, COAC, Worldbuilders, etc). Never realy got into TNE and had dropped out of Traveller by T5 and GURPS.

Now at nearly 40 I still enjoy creating star systems and planets (though I do tend to get a little technical and strive for more realism than is strictly necessary.

Glad to see Traveller still has a following, though I think it is a little greyer and longer in the tooth than in my youth.

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)

Hi,
I'm an old timer and have always wanted to play Traveller, but never got around to playing it. So now I'm keen to learn as much as possible about it and would like to find a play by email game or something similar.

Re: Hello... (introduce yourself)
Welcome to the Universe!
If you are in need of books then head over to Far Future Enterprises, Marc Miller's main place. He has all the Classic, Mega, 2300AD and soon T5 available on CD. As soon as T5 is released I heard that The New Era CD was supposed to be completed ( not 100% positive on that though)

But if you are looking at Classic (the original Little Black Books game) or MegaTraveller then you can get everything Marc and GDW ever published for each game on CD for $35 each.

As for online games, I know there are a few going on, even some played live using GRIP ( an online rpg whitetable like setup with interactive character sheets, maps, etc.) I think most of them are advertised over at Citizens of the Imperium.

The GRIP games can be mostly found over at GRIP Forums

Again, welcome to Traveller, and the Freelance Traveller Forums.
Feel free to jump in and ask questions, comment on current threads, whatever!

Also, there is a pretty good sized Traveller contingency on the web and lots of cool things people have done for Traveller - lots to see and do! So keep an eye out for link pages.

Hey, Ya'll My name is Ben and I'm a Traveller Addict

I ve been playing since 1978, where I walked into the FLGS in Tulsa, OK, looking to buy D&D, and instead walked out with the first Traveller boxed set.

And now I own the same FLGS, The Original Game Shop (shameless plug). The new Mongoose edition really has me looking out there on the web for resouces and boyo, did I find one here! Thanks to the folks who run this netsite, it is Excellent.

Hi there,
I'm Bob & I just found this forum via the Traveller Wiki. I didn't know this one existed. Heh. I was a lurker on a few other Traveller mail lists, lately TAS & CT-Starships Yahoo, but TAS flooded my email with over 100 posts a day & CT Starships is mainly about... well, starships! Which is nice, if I need to learn a thing or two about CT starships, (and I do!) but I was looking for a general forum for Traveller and I hope this is the one.

Its been so long since I played or even looked at my little black books that I forgot most of what I understood as a 13/14 yr old, and when I read the stuff I don't understand in my 40's, well, I'm not beyond pride when I ask for a bit of help understanding some of it. ;) I have some CT books & the big 3 MegaTraveller books which I cross together once in awhile, but I never like MT rules as much as CT!

Oh, & uh, by the way... thanks for having me!
:D
Bob, aka Bobjester, but here, the Great Sun Jester. ;)

Welcome aboard!  Hopefully, we can get some traffic here; I've not
really pushed the existence of these forums other than on the TML - but
while I have a number of people signed up, they all seem to be waiting
for someone else to start discussions...
