Classic and Mega together?

I'm scratching my head over the combination of Classic Traveller and MegaTraveller.  Mechanically they are different from one another (I like both quite a bit, but for different reasons), and the settings are also somewhat different (at least chronologically).

Additionally, when I started playing Traveller back in '77, CT was used for lots of other homebrew settings than the Third Imperium (not unlike Original D&D).  MT, by contrast, was firmly tied to the Third Imperium setting.

Would it be too much to ask that CT and MT get their own forums?  The other versions seem to rate this, so I'm hopeful my request will be granted.  Thanks!

I'll take that under advisement, but given the current lack of traffic,
I'm not sure it's worth it.

I'm also not sure that the two systems are really all that different; my
impression was always that the MT system was a superset of the CT
system, and the changes could easily be 'backported' without doing
violence to established material.

Could you perhaps post - in that group - your perceptions of the
differences that lead you to suggest that they shouldn't be
consolidated?
